Job Description

The  role of a Survey Engineer is to work with Project Managers and Construction Managers to quote new turnkey cell site work to their customers to include developing the scope of work, engineering requirements, material requirements, resource requirements & detailed pricing.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide detailed engineering, technical & troubleshooting support to Project Management, Construction Managers, DT Departments and Authorized Sub Contractors utilizing firsthand information derived from field visits
  • Audit all support equipment for the Base Station equipment to include Power Systems, Telco and Microwave equipment
  • Provide all necessary installation instructions required (e.g. drawings, materials) as well as related technical support for RBS related Growth & New Build projects
  • Assist Project Managers with coordinating and supervising all aspects of system growth, such as civil construction, cell additions and microwave upgrades
  • Attend client and internal department meetings and conduct vendor meetings as required to determine and verify SOW and pricing for individual projects
  • Audits - review, verify and approve site packages
  • A&E - Review project drawings and provide design recommendations. Review and interpretation of project drawings for accurate scoping (SOW and driver pricing/cost). Provide input to CAD and Project Managers with redlines when required.
  • Participate in pre build site walks to help clarify the scope of work for vendors and correct pricing
  • Participate in post build site walks to verify vendor quality and correct pricing
  • Generate  Bid Packages
  • Have a working knowledge of AT&T Turfing contract and driver pricing and ensure they are enforced
  • Supports Departmental Construction Managers and Project Controls personnel
  • Review, scrub and modify NORAD OOM''s according to approved additions and subtractions (changes) made during construction
  • Review and manage RFDS and other RF Engineering related documents and ensure they are interpreted correctly by internal groups and external vendors
  • Work with customers Operations and Implementations Departments to identify and manage equipment configurations and data fill requirements
  • Write or review MOP''s (Methods of Procedures) for Network affecting and work with customer and vendors to approve and implement the MOP''s.
  • Create and maintain Project Scoping Documents that detail MasTec/Vendor SOW and pricing breakdown along with vendor assignments and task allocation. The scoping documents are a valuable tool for identifying NORAD/OOM entries. Also used for the tracking and identifying 'Changes' made before and during Construction. Serves as a True Up Document for the Close Out Package & Process.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in telecom

  • Must demonstrate Clean Driving record

  • Detailed knowledge of RBS Product lines including LTE, UMTS, GSM, EDGE, CDMA and TDMA Engineer Ericsson, Nortel & Lucent, Cellular & PCS equipment for deployment to cell sites

  • Proficient using installation and engineering documentation

  • Proficient at writing and interpreting technical & scope of work documents

  • Excellent knowledge of Cell Site construction practices and requirements

  • Proficient with personal computers, Windows XP, Microsoft Office, mapping software, AutoCAD, and other applications required on the job
