Job Description

The Installation Lead is responsible for supervising crews on site. The Installation Lead is responsible for all activities on assigned jobs including safety, documentation, time schedule, and cost overruns

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report progress of job and upcoming material, labor and equipment needs to keep the job on schedule to Project Manager

  • Track worked hours, performance and management while onsite.  

  • Initiate decisions related to minor changes in scope of work or deviations from customer supplied drawings or prints

  • Document all change orders

  • Assign work within a crew, insuring quality workmanship, interface with client, software add/ upgrades.

  • Perform inventory of all job-related material

  • Perform all level 1, 2, and 3 functions

  • Can work on active equipment

  • Reads and interprets engineering specs, prints and drawings

  • Maintain on-site job records and administration tracking

  • Test and turn-up of active equipment

  • Perform software upgrades of active equipment

  • Perform power verification and power –up of equipment

  • Perform power and grounding installations on equipment and small power plants

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Understand and uses established safety and quality control practices
  • Working knowledge of fiber optics and OSP facilities

  • Installation knowledge of the transmission and associated equipment

  • Able to read and understand site installation specifications and drawings

  • Proficient in the operation, service and maintenance of digital transmission and telecom networks

  • Strong interpersonal skills; proven ability to train crew members in a sufficient member

  • In-depth knowledge of telecom networks, operational requirements, add/removes batteries

  • Follow directions and to perform general equipment installation tasks

  • Must be able to travel local and long distance

  • Must have the ability to climb towers, be able to pick up 50 lbs., and be cable of working up to 12 hours on occasion

  • Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions

  • Must be available to work weekends and/or nights, in extreme weather conditions if necessary, and be willing to travel extensively

  • Must be able to work out of market or away from home as work demands
