We are currently seeking a Field Surveyor in San Jose, CA area.

The Field Surveyor is responsible for Redlines job packs which include measuring, writing, photographing, knowledge of blueprints and utilities

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Provide data relevant to size, shape, contour, location, elevation, or dimensions of land or land features
  2. Plan, oversee, and conduct surveys of land areas using special high-accuracy techniques, including astronomical observations and complex computations
  3. Use surveying instruments and tools to produce layouts
  4. Perform project research, boundary calculations, and records accuracy of survey data, notes, and sketches
  5. Write descriptions of land for deeds, leases, and other legal documents
  6. Inspects to ensure proper compliance with construction specifications
  7. Reviews preliminary construction plans to ensure proper quantities, dimensions, special provisions and overall completeness
  8. Meet with project managers to determine and satisfy their survey requirements
  9. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  1. A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 1 year of related experience.
  3. Land Surveyor Certification require
  4. Ability to align machine, cutter head, or depth gauge market with reference stakes and guidelines on ground
  5. Thorough knowledge of all equipment necessary for land surveying, as well as knowledge regarding the care and maintenance of such equipment
  6. Ability to project size and organization of work to determine day-to-day duties
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills
  8. Excellent time management skills
  9. Proficient in MS Office products
  10. Ability to travel extensively

Job Requirements

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Able to stand for various lengths of time, lifting to 75 Lbs., ability to follow directions, self-motivated, ability to work various shifts including nights and weekends. This job typically operates in an outdoor environment and requires use of specialized surveying equipment. This role also uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers/scanners. This is a position that requires medium to heavy exertion, as it requires long hours of walking and the ability to carry up to 50 pounds of surveying equipment. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and clarity of vision at 20 feet or more required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
