Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Operates heavy & light construction equipment, including backhoes, dozer, cable plow, front-end loaders, air compressors, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers & other types of machinery & assures maintenance of these as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Traffic Control set up & tear down
• Ability to drive trucks & equipment to job sites
• Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
• Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles or equipment in the care, custody or control.
• Report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, corporate and assist in the investigation of same.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• 2 years of experience in utility construction preferred
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices.
• Knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints a plus.
• Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) and work overtime as required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Possess a valid CDL (A) license or be able to attain one.
• Pre-employment drug screen/criminal background test is mandatory
• Will be required to complete OSHA 10 hour course provided by MasTec.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level or working in confined spaces
