Job Description

The OHE Operator is responsible for operating the machines required to install the conduit, cables, poles, pull boxes, and switchgear colors for customers.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

•Operate jobsite equipment safely, such as mobile cranes, bulldozers, angle dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, excavators, track hoe, trenchers, digger-derricks, or other construction equipment.
•Perform service, safety checks, and minor repairs on machines, check oil and fluids.
•Inspect digging areas to ensure it has been staked/located prior to digging.
•Stake/locate work areas prior to digging.
•Work with maintenance crew or assist as laborer when not operating equipment.
•Dig around all live utilities, both underground and overhead.
•Train, guide, or oversee work of lower graded operators and laborers, when needed.
•Comply with proper safety standards/procedures and work practices according to MasTec or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
•Load trucks in safe and accident free manner.
•Actively improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service with quality timeliness.
•Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience
•High School Diploma, or equivalent.
•A valid driver’s license.
•Good written and verbal communication skills.
•Precise hand-eye coordination.
•Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
•Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
•Ability to read blueprints and spot cables.
•Ability to operate equipment.
•2 or more years of experience.
•A CDL Class A license.
•This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
•This job involves working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
•This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles.
•The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
