Job Description

The Field Technician III will install, maintain, and operate wired, wireless, fiber optic and microwave telecommunications equipment and systems.  As a Field Technician, support will be provided in the maintenance and operation of generators, HVAC, and telecommunication site infrastructures.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to lead a Field Crew
  • Understands and implements MasTec Network Solutions (MNS) Health Safety and Environmental Policies. (Safety Manual).
  • Understands and implements Industry standards (OSHA, TIA10-48, NATE CTS and ANSI)
  • Able to read and understand a customer detail plan
  • Provide superior customer service while ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner.
  • Adhere to all company and industry standards/regulations
  • Prepare drawings of field sketches using AutoCAD
  • Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design requirements related to telecommunication, commercial, residential, and light industrial application
  • Conduct due diligence for multiple projects prior to field work
  • Review peer work product
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), technical degree preferred

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of general construction experience preferred; some cell industry experience highly preferred.
  • NWSA certification a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft office suite.
  • Update equipment office records and installation specifications
  • Commissioning and integration experience required
  • Mobile access certification is a plus
  • Ability to lead crews when Foreman is away. DC/AC electrical skills
  • Must be able to pick up to 50 lbs. and be capable of working up to 12 hours
  • Experience on AT&T or Verizon Wireless Networks

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work weekends and/or nights, in extreme weather conditions if necessary
  • Must have the ability and be willing to travel extensively, as required for job related functions.
  • Must be able to work out of market or away from home as work demands.
